2020 Honda Clarity for Sale in Lincoln, RI
The 2020 Honda Clarity is made in two fuel source options: the Plug-In Hybrid and a fuel cell version that’s available on a very limited lease-only basis in California. The Plug-In Hybrid runs on both a battery-powered electric motor and a gas-powered engine. Unlike a conventional gas-electric hybrid, which repeatedly alternates between motor and engine dependent upon speed, a plug-in hybrid uses up its electric charge for a predictable number of miles first, switching to the gas engine when the charge runs out. Many people love the convenience of plug-ins because they can be recharged when they’re not being driven. Honda has discontinued the all-electric version of the Clarity as of this model year, leaving our featured Clarity as the only 2020 Honda that comes with a plug.
Trim Levels and Standard Features
The power team on the 2020 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid consists of a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gas-powered engine, an electric motor hybrid system, and a 17-kWh lithium-ion battery. The transmission is an electronic CVT, and both trims are front-wheel drive. The total system output for is 212 horsepower and 232 pounds-feet of torque. The Clarity Plug-In is rated by the EPA to achieve 110 MPGe, 44 mpg city/40 mpg highway (gas), and a combined driving range of 340 miles. When the battery is fully charged, the all-electric range is about 47 miles – plenty for most commutes and errands. When the battery runs out, the gas engine kicks in and takes over.
The 2020 Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid is available in two trim levels: base and Touring. The base comes with LED headlights and tail lights, Smart Entry with Walk Away Auto Lock, HomeLink (capable of controlling garage doors from inside the vehicle), a tire repair kit, push-button start, a rearview camera, a 60/40-split rear seatback, heated front seats, Honda LaneWatch (a special camera system that supplements the side mirrors and points towards the vehicle’s blind spot), and dual-zone automatic climate control. The Touring adds power-adjustable front seats, perforated leather-trimmed seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Technology for Safety and Connectivity
The 2020 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid gets Honda Sensing as a standard package on both trims. This suite of driver-assist technologies consists of collision and road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning.
Both the base and Touring come with ample information and connectivity features. The base model has an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two USB ports, satellite and HD radio, Bluetooth hands-free and audio streaming capability, and an eight-speaker audio system. The Touring adds an integrated navigation system.
