2019 Honda Ridgeline

The 2019 Ridgeline brings utility and Honda’s consistent quality to its six trims: RT, Sport, RTL, RTL-T, RTL-E, and the stylish Black Edition, with its black paint, black-painted wheels, black trim, a black headliner, and red-accented black leather seats. This great-looking pickup edges out its competitors with its fully independent suspension and torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system, which enhances traction and stability. Its fuel economy is on par for its class, reaching up to 19 mpg city and 26 mpg for the front-wheel-drive configurations and up to 18 mpg city and 25 mpg for the AWD models.

Performance and Utility

Each level of Ridgeline comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission. AWD is available for all trims except for the RT and comes standard in the RTL-E and Black Edition. It’s offered only in a crew-cab configuration, providing comfortable transportation for five occupants. A transmission cooling system helps keep the transmission at the right temperature during towing; a properly equipped AWD ’19 Ridgeline can pull up to 5,000 pounds (3,500 lb. for FWD models). All trims come prewired for 7-pin connectors, and the four-wheel independent suspension provides extra stabilization for off-road exploring. The ’19 Ridgeline is the only midsize that can carry 4×8 sheets of plywood flat in its bed, which spans 64 inches and features a two-way tailgate and a lockable in-bed trunk that can double as a cooler or speaker.

The 2019 Honda Ridgeline is equipped with a rearview camera with visual guidelines. For extra safety, the RTL-E and Black Edition come with the Blind Sport Information System, making merging and lane changes safer. Also available in the top two trims is the Honda Sensing suite of active safety technology features, which includes collision mitigating braking, adaptive cruise, lane keep assist, road departure mitigation, and forward-collision alert. The Variable Torque Management all-wheel-drive system maximizes each individual wheel’s contact with the road, and the standard-equipment Intelligent traction management and its four modes (normal, snow, sand, and mud) add additional vehicle control.

Well-equipped with the today’s technology features, especially in its more loaded trims, the Ridgeline puts a 200-watt audio system in the three lowest trims, upgrades that to a 225-watt system on the RTL-T, and rewards buyers of the RTL-E and Black Edition with a premium 540-watt system. The generously sized center console fits a 10-inch tablet and has a conveniently placed USB port to keep it charged. There are two additional USB ports in the back row for other passengers’ use. The RTL-T, RTL-E, and Black Edition come standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Pandora compatibility and a voice-recognition enabled navigation system. Convenient push-button start comes standard on all trims; tri-zone auto climate control and the HomeLink Remote System, which helps you control your home’s security and lighting, come standard on the Sport and higher.
